Smarts Heritage system was used for the windows and doors on this extension to match the house as replaced the previous year.
Project Details:
Due to the property having full sun at the rear all afternoon, we fitted a Solar Reflecting Glass to the main room upstairs in the form of a large fixed window to enable the view across the rolling farmland of Devon to be enjoyed without “cooking.”
Downstairs, to further protect the residents from the sun, we fitted a Brise Soleil shading to give shade throughout the year.
As the architect demanded a 1500mm horizontal projection to ensure extended shading to the Patio area also, we needed a light weight structure, yet sufficiently rigid and strong enough to withstand those one in fifty year storms. A challenge that we overcame.
We supplied and fitted aluminium brackets to the steel beam above the BiFolding doors, thus enabling the builder to complete the finish to the walls. Once the walls were completed, we returned and fitted the Brise Soleil Cassettes to the projecting brackets to complete the job – customer is extremely pleased.
The Brise Soleil was designed and manufactured “inhouse” – the elliptical aluminium blades were extruded in Belgium and shipped over, all within the Smarts Systems.
